WRCA Scholarship History

In September 1994, an idea was presented to a group of individuals from across the United States on how they could do their part in preserving the livelihood and lifestyle of the working ranch cowboy, as well as how to assist them in hard times. In March of 1995 they gathered in Amarillo, Texas and decided the way to raise funds for their cause would be a ranch rodeo. The following year, the 1st World Championship Ranch Rodeo was held in Amarillo, Texas, November 14-16 of 1996.

In 1997, at the 2nd World Championship Ranch Rodeo, it was announced that in the Spring of 1998, WRCA would be awarding their first scholarships to the individuals that qualified. The spring of 1998 rolled around and WRCA awarded its first 4 individuals with scholarships, and the number has continued to grow.
