Message from the President
Myself and the directors of the Association and Foundation want to thank you for your attendance of the 24th WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo. Your support enables us to continue to highlight the ranching lifestyle and help those in need within our industry.
This year we have 20 ranch teams from eight states competing for the title of WRCA World Champion. The competition will be exciting and fierce. All of these competitors are already champions in their own right as each has had to win one of the sanctioned ranch rodeos to get here.
Please take note of two new additions to our schedule this year. We are happy to hold the 1st WRCA Invitational Ranch Gelding Sale that will be held in the arena at 1 pm Saturday. You will have the opportunity to see and purchase 41 of the finest working ranch geldings in the country. Also, we are proud to have a special screening of the documentary “Cowboys: A Documentary Portrait.” This features ranches from across the country, some of which are here competing! It is being shown at 3 pm Saturday at the Globe News Center across the street.
Take note that due to the above additional events that we have had to juggle our usual schedule. The RHAA Ranch Horse competition and the Youth Cow Horse Championship times and dates have been changed. Please note these changes as these events are not something you want to miss.
Try to attend the Crisis and Scholarship Brunch auction on Saturday. There will be many items that you will want to bid on. Remember that all the proceeds help fund the WRCA Foundation and the great work that they do. Also stop by the WRCA booth on the concourse to renew your membership. You can also purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win a handmade saddle and gear from Oliver Saddle Shop or a special WRCA pistol.
As before, the Box Inc. booth will have WRCA logoed merchandise that everyone will want. The Cowhand Supply booth will also have these and other items at great prices.
Plan to spend time strolling through the Trade and Trappings show and the Ranch Expo. The Heritage Room show is also a must see. These shows have many items that you will want to have. And remember that Christmas is just around the corner as if you need to use that as an excuse.
Please try to attend the Cowboy Church and Christian Cowboy Gathering on Sunday morning. Following Sunday’s rodeo performance will be the WRCA Awards and Contestants Party. Everyone is invited and I hope that you are able to attend it.
Take note that all of this would not be possible without or sponsors and their shared belief in our cause. Many of these sponsors have booths in the hallways and on the concourse. Please stop by to thank them for their support,.
Take time this week to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Many have been coming here from the start and those relationships last a lifetime.
I want to personally thank each and every one of you for coming.
Best,
Randy Norris
WRCA President
