The Working Ranch Cowboy’s Association was honored by West Texas A&M as the 2018 WTAMU Business of the Year. The 39th annual All-University Honors Banquet recognizing WRCA was held at the at the JBK Legacy Hall on April 20.
The recipient of Business of the Year is chosen by the Student Government Association and in order to win, the entire Student Senate must vote on the winner. WRCA was honored during the ceremony for outstanding efforts to supply aid and support to those affected by the wildfires in early 2017.
“WRCA was chosen because SGA at WTAMU values leadership and service,” Chandler Huddleston, WTAMU Student Body President said. “WRCA perfectly embodies that servant leadership. It is this commitment to neighbors that Student Government values so much.”
WRCA and the Working Ranch Cowboys Foundation continues to support ranch cowboys in relief efforts. Whether it is large-scale tragedy or the everyday perils of ranching, the WRCA Foundation works to give cowboys a hand up not a hand out in their time of need.
“It was an honor and a privilege to accept the business of the year award on behalf of the association and foundation,” said Kaycee Hooper, WRCA Foundation manager. “We work to represent our cowboys and our ranches to the best of our capabilities. This accomplishment is awarded to them just as much as it was to us.”
WRCA and the WRCA Foundation is thankful to WTAMU and the SGA for recognizing them for this honor and is appreciative for their continued support of WRCA and Foundation initiatives.
