How to Support Ranchers Affected by the Oklahoma Wildfires
Fires in Western Oklahoma that began late last week continue to devastate the region. The wildfires have burned more thanĀ 350,000 acres, claimed two lives, and injured seven. And due to drought, high temperatures, low humidity, and strong wind gusts, the risk remains considerable.
How can you help?
The WRCA has compiled a list of organizations and resources that are supporting those affected:
The OklahomaĀ State Divison of Agricultura Sciences and Natural Resources is a key resource to affected ranchers.
Oklahoma Forestry Services is also providing key fire updates.
Hay is one of a number of items needed by producer-victims of recent wildfires. Hay can be donated through the Woodward County OSU Extension.Ā
Monetary donations can be made through the WRCA or the OklahomaĀ Cattleman’s Association. Both have funds dedicated to helping ranchers affected by the wildfires.
We know firsthand the amazing rallying power of the agricultural communityāan incredible group that doesn’t back down from crisis and instead reaches out in profoundly powerful ways to help those who need it most. Our prayersĀ to all those are affected by the wildfires and our sincerest thanks to those who are able to help.
