An Emblem of the American West

A ubiquitous part of Western history and myth, the Texas Rangers are one of the most storied law enforcement agencies in the world. Their legacy is the product of nearly 200 years of protecting the frontier. Nearly as inextricable from Western history is the Colt firearm—the manufacturer of the gun that “won the West.”

At the 25th World Championship Ranch Rodeo, a lucky bidder will have the opportunity to bring home an incredible piece that spans both chapters of Americana. At the WRCA Foundation Auction, held Saturday, 10:30 am–12:30 pm, there will be a standout piece of gear: a personalized Colt USA 1911 Classic Series 70 Government Model. This firearm is no replica or showpiece; it was carried by Texas Ranger Antonio “Tony” DeLuna in the line of service.

DeLuna, a 14-year Ranger veteran, is thrilled to contribute to a cause a cares deeply about: supporting the ranching communities that he spends every day working to protect.

“The WRCA Foundation is a noble and worthwhile endeavor,” he says. “My hope is that the Colt brings in some good money for such a good cause—to help support working people of America. One of the things I like appreciate most about the Foundation is its scholarship branch. The children of these working ranch families are the future of our country, and being able to contribute to the furthering of their education just warms you up inside.”
